Nominations galore on final day

Warangal/Mahabubabad: The last day of filing of nominations witnessed a huge rush with as many as 17 candidates from different political parties and independents making a beeline at the office of the Returning Officer to file their nominations.

In all, 29 candidates are in the fray for Warangal (SC-15) Lok Sabha constituency after the filing of nominations ended on Monday.

The authorities received 43 sets of nominations from 29 candidates.

Warangal Lok Sabha RO Prashant Jeevan Patil said that the nomination process has passed off peacefully and their scrutiny will take place on Tuesday (March 26).

The last date for withdrawal of nominations is March 28.

Warangal sitting MP Pasunuri Dayakar accompanied by legislators K Srihari, Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, Nannapuneni Narender and KUDA chairman Marri Yadava Reddy filed two sets of papers with the RO.

While Congress candidate Dommati Sambaiah filed his second set of nomination, his daughter Mounika also filed papers as a dummy candidate.

Bhupalpally MLA G Venkat Ramana Reddy, Jangaon DCC president Janga Raghava Reddy and Warangal DCC president N Rajender Reddy were present with Sambaiah.

BJP candidate Chintha Sambamurthy, accompanied by former MLA M Dharma Rao, former T Rajeshwar Rao and Warangal Urban district president R Padma Reddy filed his nomination.

On the other hand, 20 candidates are in the fray for Mahabubabad Lok Sabha seat.

TRS candidate Maloth Kavitha filed her final set of nomination in Mahabubabad on Monday.

BJP's Jatoth Hussain Naik also submitted his nomination papers with the Returning Officer Ch Shivalingaiah.

Speaking to reporters, Pasunuri Dayakar thanked KCR for reposing faith in him and urged people to support him one more time by giving a record majority.

Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao said: "The TRS will win 16 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana. With BJP and Congress are in no position to command people's mandate, the Federal Front floated by KCR will play a crucial role in the national politics."

He said that party cadre is geared up for KCR's public meeting at Azam Jahi Mills grounds in Warangal on April 2.
