Peddapalli: The authorities of irrigation department started pumping water from Nandi Medaram pump house under the lift irrigation project of Kaleshwaram to Mid Manair Dam (Sri Raja Rajeshwara) Reservoir on Tuesday.

After completing the wet run successfully, the pumping of Kaleshwaram water to MMD from Nandi Medaram pump house of Peddapalli district has commenced at 5 am on Tuesday morning. Water was released through three pump sets into Yellampalli reservoir through delivery cisterns from where it has been taken to Gayatri pump house of Package-8 in Karimnagar district and then water would reach MMD through flood flow canal.

Due to the leakage developed on the left side bund of MMD, the authorities took up mending works and after completing the repairing works, the officials decided to release the Kaleshwaram water to MMD.

The water is lifted from Nandi Medaram pump house and released under the supervision of Engineer-in-Chief Nalla Venkateshwarlu and Executive Engineer N Sridhar of Irrigation department.
