The Apex Court on Wednesday directed the Telangana government to propose a retired Supreme Court judge to probe the encounter of all the four accused in the rape and murder of Hyderabad veterinary doctor Disha case.

The Apex Court on Wednesday directed the Telangana government to propose a retired Supreme Court judge to probe the encounter of all the four accused in the rape and murder of Hyderabad veterinary doctor Disha case.

Dealing with the case Chief Justice SA Bobde asked former Supreme Court judge PV Reddy to enquire the case but he declined. Later, he asked the Telangana government to choose the name of the retired Supreme Court judge.

The retired supreme court judge will head the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and investigate the case residing in Delhi. The case was adjourned to tomorrow.

The Government of Telangana on Sunday set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the police encounter against the four accused. The SIT will be headed by Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat.

Meanwhile, a team of the National Human Rights Commission, which is probing the alleged encounter recorded the statement of two policemen who were injured in the alleged exchange of fire.
