Wanaparthy: Taking part in the 281st birth anniversary celebrations of tribal saint Sri Sant Sevelal Maharaj at a function hall in Wanaparthy district on Thursday, Agriculture Minister Singireddy Nirajan Reddy urged the tribal communities, particularly the Lambada community, to get united and reap the fruits of various welfare and development schemes initiated by the State government.

Speaking on the occasion, the Agriculture Minister said that the government was not only celebrating the birth anniversaries of leaders of various communities to pacify the communities, but it was publicising the Telangana culture and tradition through such events.

"Earlier, in united Andhra Pradesh, the rulers suppressed the Telangana culture and tradition and tried to bury it completely by giving no identity to the Telangana people. However after the formation of Telangana, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has decided to celebrate the birth anniversaries and various other cultural festivities of various communities in the State and allocating funds for these celebrations," said the Minister.

"The Telangana movement was not just for power, but it was a struggle to change the lives of people of Telangana who were reeling under pathetic financial conditions. By brining Krishna water to the parched lands of Lambada Thandas, we could completely eradicate migration. Ninety per cent of migration had taken place from Tribal thandas. Now, the people who had earlier migrated to other places are coming back and taking up agriculture and living a respectful life," said the Minister while explaining the need for celebrations of various community leaders in the State.
