A general physician aged about 70 years succumbed to coronavirus at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Sunday evening.

The doctor who had completed his MBBS from Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) was running a clinic in Khairatabad for four decades. He was admitted to KIMS hospital on June 16 with suspected coronavirus symptoms and later tested positive for the virus. He died on Sunday night while undergoing treatment. The doctor is said to have been suffering from hypertension

It is learned that the doctor is not providing treatment to any patients at his clinic which was shut after the lockdown was announced in the state.

On Sunday, the state reported 730 cases taking the total tally to 7,802, while the death toll jumped to 210. Currently, there are 3,861 active coronavirus cases in the state. With the discharge of 225 patients on Sunday, the number of recovered patients went up to 3,731.
