Divya (22), who completed a diploma in agriculture got married to Budha Chaitanya on May 18, 2019. An amount of Rs 4 lakh, 12 tolas of gold was given during marriage. However, Divya's in-laws were not satisfied with the dowry and demanded more from her family.
Ten days ago, Chaitanya thrashed Divya and sent her to parents' home to bring the dowry. Since then, Divya was depressed over her life and consumed poison on Saturday. She was shifted to Anakapalli government hospital and died while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, Divya's father Sanyasi Rao lodged a complaint with the police against Chaitanya and his parents. The police registered a case and are probing into it.
