Highest single day cases (206), deaths (10) so far in TS

Hyderabad: Telangana registered the highest single day cases (206) and highest single day deaths (10) so far. As a result, the overall Covid-19 count rose to 3,496 while deaths rose to 123.

GHMC accounted for 152 cases, its highest in a single day so far. Amongst the fresh cases Medchal and Ranga Reddy registered 18 and 10 cases respectively. Other than these 13 other districts also reported new cases in the last 24 hours.

The health department has appealed to people to be alert and self-vigilant for any signs of SARI or ILI and contact the nearest government health facility immediately with onset of related symptoms.

Among the ten dead, nine are males while one is female. Atleast eight are from GHMC limits while one of them was from Nagarkurnool district. The youngest amongst the dead was a 28-year male while the oldest was a 74- year-old male; both from Hyderabad. Four of them were in 40 to 50 years age group.

An official in CMO (Chief Minister's Office) located in Metro Rail Bhavan tested positive after which authorities sealed one floor entirely and put 30 staff members in home quarantine.

A senior Urologist with 30 years experience and who is a consultant in three corporate hospitals also tested positive.

With infections being reported in doctors and paramedic staff, NIMS administration has decided to shut OP & IP services in 5 departments from June 7-9 for sanitisation of Specialty Block.

The 5 depts are: Med Gastroenterology, Surgical Gastroenterology, Urology, Cardiology & Surgical Oncology.
