Telangana: Government may roll out 3rd round of Palle Pragathi on Feb 23
Third round of Palle Pragathi may be launched from February 23 in all the Gram Panchayats across the State as the Collectors have been instructing the district officials and sarpanches to get ready. The government is yet to make a formal announcement.

Palle Pragathi, brainchild of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, has been launched in the State in last year and first round was held for a month from September 6, 2019. The second round was held in January this year and the government is preparing for the third round.
This time it may be held for a long time to address the issues of the villages.
Under Palle Pragathi various programmes to ensure better sanitation, greenery, and improvement of basic facilities would be taken up. Establishment of nurseries, construction of crematoriums and dumping yards would be taken up.
Electricity lines would be fixed and drainages would be cleaned up. The villagers would be enlightened on the need to raise greenery and to keep sanitation in good condition.
During the two rounds of Palle Pragathi, 10 crore plants have been planted and out of them eight crores have survived. About 44 lakh soak pits have been planned and out of them 2.9 lakh have been completed.
Out of the total 12,668 crematoriums planned under Palle Pragathi, works for 7,388 are going on. While 12,700 dumping yards have been planned, works of 11,000 are taken up. So far about 65 per cent of the works have been grounded in the GPs which have been taken under Palle Pragathi.
Though the government directed the GPs to complete all the works by this month, works of several activities are yet to be grounded. With this the government has decided to go for the third round.
The district collectors have been holding meetings with the officials of Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Electricity and others on the third round of Palle Pragathi. During the District Collectors' meeting, the Chief Minister has expressed satisfaction over the two rounds of the Palle Pragathi and exhorted the heads of the districts to put focus on completion of the works.
He desired that the programme should be made a continuous activity, plantation should be increased, potholes should be closed, garbage should be removed and unused open wells should be closed.
He directed the collectors to hold Panchayat Sammelans (Panchayat congregations) with sarpanches, MPTCs, and ZPTCs at the district level to enlighten them on the need to develop the villages. He made it clear that within 10 days after the Panchayat congregations, there should be a visible change.
After that the flying squads would take up surprise visits. Action would be taken who failed and rewards would be given to those who succeeded.
