Speaking at a meeting organised by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Warangal Chapter and Junior and Youth wings of IRCS here on Monday, she called upon all sections of the people to work in unison to turn Telangana into a healthy State.
The Governor who inspected infrastructural facilities at the Thalassemia centre, heaped praise on the management for their service motto to save the lives of patients suffering from the malady. She told the IRCS management to continue its endeavours towards the distressed sections.
She also expressed satisfaction over the IRCS for organising blood bank, Jan Aushadhi and platelet facilities etc. She heaped praise on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for bringing Thalassemia treatment under the ambit of Aarogyasri Health Care Trust.
"The Central government's Ayushman Bharat and Aarogyasri schemes are of immense help to the needy," Tamilisai said.
Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme the needy can have provision to get treatment for diseases related to endocrinology, spine, bone marrow transplant and kidney transplant etc, she added.
She said that it was heartening to see 1.16 lakh joining as junior and youth Red Cross members. She appealed to the members to sensitise the importance of blood donation among the masses.
Warangal Urban District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil has urged the Governor to pursue the Central government for the establishment of Thalassemia Research centre in Warangal.
He said that as many as 280 patients suffering from Thalassemia are being benefited by the IRCS Warangal Chapter. The Governor planted saplings on the IRCS premises and also laid foundation for the exclusive building for Thalassemia ward.
Later, she visited the historic Thousand Pillar and Bhadrakali temples besides Warangal Fort.
The Governor is scheduled to visit Mukteeshwara Swamy temple and Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project in Bhupalpally district on Tuesday.
