Hyderabad: Passersby rescued a woman and her child who accidentally fell into a open pit on Thursday evening here at Peerzadiguda.
Getting into details, the woman, Laharika gave birth to a baby boy on March 7 at a private hospital in Peerzadiguda. On Thursday, Laharika along with her child and mother was going to the hospital when they accidentally fell into an open pit that was dug for pipeline works.
Laharika did not notice the pit as it was filled with water due to the untimely rain. Soon after she stepped out from the car, the woman fell into the pit.
On learning the incident, corporators Amar Singh and Yugandhar Reddy rushed to the spot and alerted the municipal workers to close the pit. Mayor Jakka Venkat Reddy enquired about the incident and ensure that the other pits which were dug up for water supply will be closed soon after pipeline works.
While the woman and baby who suffered minor injuries were shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment.
