According to inspector AC Balanagi Reddy, Prasad and Anjali (28) are residing at Parsigutta along with their two sons Anirudh (10) and Amruth Tej (8). Prasad who had worked as a carpenter for some time has got addicted to alcohol after failing to find work. He used to harass his wife for money who works as a teacher in a private school.
Fed up with the husband's harassment, Anjali approached Begumpet police who counselled the couple and granted conditional bail to Prasad.
On Tuesday, Anjali consumed cool drink mixed with poison and also offered it to her children. Neighbours who saw the three lying unconscious alerted the police who shifted them to Gandhi Hospital. Anjali and Anirudh were declared dead while the condition of Amruth is said to be critical.
