Vijayawada: The Government health sector should be strengthened in the state as well as in the country by allocating special budget for the health sector said CITU National Vice president, Founder Member of FMRAI and Ex General Secretary, JS Majumdar.

Addressing the gathering at a programme here on Sunday, he said that the Private health sector was developed than the government health sector after the beginning of the new economic reforms in 1990.

He said that the current union government had damaged the government health sector, by encouraging the private sector.

He alleged that the government was not following the International standards like allotting 4 per cent to the health in the Annual Budget.

Hence the standards are very poor in the rural as well as in urban areas and the poor are facing several problems.

He further alleged that the doctors and staff are not able to provide services to the public due to lack of medicines, infrastructure and equipment in Primary health centres.
