Amaravati: Fearing defeat in the forthcoming local body elections, the TDP leaders are attempting to politicise each and every small incident and blowing them out of proportions, alleged YSRCP leader and Penalamur MLA Kolusu Parthasaradhi. "The hand of the opposition party can be seen very clearly in the Macherla incident where they wanted to create trouble and derive publicity out of it," he said.

Speaking to media here on Thursday, the MLA said that Naidu has to answer as to why TDP leaders Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and Buddha Venkanna went all the way to Palnadu in a fleet of cars defying the model code of conduct.

He alleged that the speeding vehicles had hit a physically-challenged person, which enraged the locals who attacked the vehicle while they were fleeing. ''It is a clear case of hit and run and when caught red-handed, the TDP, known for its manipulative skills, started telling that that their leaders were attacked and attempt was made on their life," he said.

The TDP leaders claimed that they had gone there to lodge a complaint in the police station as if there were no leaders in the district and it was their convoy that had terrorised locals and not the other way round, Parthasaradhi alleged.

During local body elections, small incidents do take place but the manner in which the TDP was projecting that to make it look like that their cadres were not being allowed to file nominations was wrong and tantamount to mudslinging, he maintained.

"To put the record straight, for the 9,696 MPTCs, as many as 33,600 nominations were filed. Similarly, for the 652 ZPTCs, almost 4,000 nominations have been filed. If what the TDP is claiming true, how can there be so many nominations and there is a contest in many places which shows that TDP candidates have filed their papers. Chandrababu is only trying to create a scene fearing a big defeat ahead," the YSRCP leader said.

He said it was during the TDP rule that elected MPTCs of the YSRCP were kidnapped and party leaders Mustafa and Ambati Rambabu were attacked brutally by the goons of the TDP at Medikonduru in Guntur district. Why did Naidu not speak about it, he wondered.

"Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has brought election reforms to curb the use of liquor and money and wanted to have peaceful elections.

But Naidu with his evil intentions is trying to create unrest among the state and shift the blame on the government," he said.
