The YSRCP leaders looted `4,000 crore in land acquisitions, alleges party spokesman Kommareddy Pattabhi

Amaravati: TDP has accused the ruling YSRCP MLAs and leaders of plundering public money in the name of free house sites programme without giving any proper sites for the poor families everywhere in the State.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, party's national spokesman Kommareddy Pattabhi deplored that the Jagan Reddy regime is wasting huge public money on 'countdown advertisements' in papers on the house sites programme in which multiple frauds were committed from land acquisition to identification of beneficiaries.

The covernment's claims of giving house sites to 30.75 lakh poor women were totally hollow considering how the ruling party leaders had made lots of easy money.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the TDP leader said that the Chief Minister had got many palaces in different metro cities but his regime was giving just one-and-a-half cents in rural areas and one cent in urban areas to the poor. If the State was spared from the Rs 6,500 crore looting of public funds, then over 13 lakh families could have got one additional cent.

The YSRCP leaders looted Rs 4,000 crore in land acquisitions, Rs 2,000 crore in levelling of lands and another Rs 750 crore in the form of collections from the allottees. Pattabhi deplored that the YSRCP leaders turned a band of robbers and looted public money by making the government to buy cheap lands worth Rs 5 lakh to Rs 20 lakh lands at prices more than four to five times.

These frauds took place in almost all the assembly segments across the State with some MLAs making unusually big money in the process.

In Penamaluru segment in Krishna district, the local MLA made the government buy 503 acres at Rs 75 lakh per acre while the actual cost was just around Rs 25 lakh. Thus, over Rs 133 crore house sites scam took place only in one segment.

The TDP leader said that in the Tenali segment in Guntur district, Rs 180 crore fraud took place with the Government buying lands worth Rs 30 lakh in the market by offering over Rs 90 lakh. In the Mylavaram segment, 130 acres of land was acquired by the Government by offering Rs 45 lakh per acre far in excess of the market value.

It led to a Rs 200 crore scam there. Another Rs 100 crore scam took place in Vinukonda where lands worth just Rs 5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh were brought by the Government at Rs 18 lakh. Moreover, these lands were located over 7 kms away from the town.

Pattabhi said that even in Palakonda ST segment, Rs 10 crore scam was committed as the Government was forced to buy lands worth just Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh per acre at a cost of Rs 40 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. Also, Rs 150 crore fraud was committed in the Rajahmundry low-lying lands.
