Vijayawada: About 5,000 old clothes have been collected on the occasion of 150th Gandhi Jayanthi at a programme organised by Amrutha Hastam. In all, 350 employees of Fortune Murali Park Hotel gave about 5,000 old clothes to Amrutha Hastam (NGO), said NGO founder Dara Karunasree on Thursday.

She said that they collected about 30,000 old clothes from various places in one month which will be distributed to the poor and needy. She said that one in ten people are living in poverty unable to earn their daily bread and clothing and appealed to all the people to donate the old clothes to the NGO which will reach the poor and the needy.

The collected cloths were divided according to sizes and would be distributed to the poor. She further said that Amrutha Hastam has provided food to about 9,99,999 starving people across the city in 450 days.

Fortune Murali Park general manager Sujith, staff Sivakrishna, Rajesh, TN Rao, Shankar, Kiran, Sanjeeb, Keshav, Apparao, Chef Ramana, Arun, Ramu, D Ravi, NGO convener Krishna Kishore, coordinator Lakshmi and others were present.
