The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday ordered to ban the Bauxite mining at Visakhapatnam by withdrawing the GO 97. An order with respect to it has been passed to the officials of the mining department.

"If the tribals are seriously opposing it to preserve the forest reserves, then there is no need for the government to continue the mining," said YS Jagan.

On the second day of collectors' meeting at Praja Vedika, the chief minister said that the tribals need to be taken into confidence and ensure they are not attracted to Maoists. He further added that the ban on Bauxite mining will end the Maoists movement in the agency area.

The GO 97 allows the mining department to carry out the mining at the Bauxite Ore.
