Nellore: After a long gap, the APSRTC is resuming bus services to Tamil Nadu from Wednesday.

In all, 60 buses are going to be operated from various bus depots across the State and the majority are from Nellore and Chittoor districts. Executive Director (Operations) KS Brahmananda Reddy said on Tuesday that they would resume operation of buses between the two States. It may be recalled that bus passengers between Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have been facing severe difficulties as services are being allowed only up to the check-post located in Tada mandal in Nellore district which has become a major problem for the people.

Passengers of both States have to get down there and catch services of the States concerned for reaching their destination. Though the Centre had issued unlock-5 guidelines, Tamil Nadu has not been willing to open the border check-post for allowing APSRTC and private services due to the Covid pandemic. Freshly, 10 MEMU services from Chennai were introduced up to Sullurpet for employees of Tamil Nadu a couple of days ago who visit railways and other departments. But there has been no transport facility for local people who want to visit places in Tamil Nadu. The decision of the RTC would provide them a much needed relief.
