Vijayawada: Former Deputy Speaker Dr Mandali Buddha Prasad said that Mallampalli Somasekhara Sarma was one of the pioneers in reconstructing the history of Andhras by publishing hundreds of inscriptions.

He was the chief guest at the launch of book, 'Mallampalli's Somasekhara Sarma's letters to Suravaram Pratapa Reddy' complied by Dr E Sivanagi Reddy and Konda Srinivasulu at a function organised jointly by Andhra Arts Academy and the Cultural Centre of Vijayawada & Amaravati here on Saturday.

After releasing the book, he stressed the need for publishing Sarma's complete works for the benefit of Telugu people. Dr E Sivanagi Reddy, CEO, CCVA, briefed on the biography and contribution of Mallampalli Somasekhara Sarma to the history of Andhras.

Dr Venna Vallabha Rao, recipient of Kendra Sahitya Academy Award, presided over the function and reiterated the commitment of Sarma in collecting primary data on the history and culture of Telugu people.

Dr TS Reddy, president, AP Photography Academy, who released the book, gave the first copy of book to Dr Chandu Sambasivarao, member, AP RERA. Later, the book was reviewed by Dr Gumma Sambasiva Rao.

Golla Narayana Rao, president of Andhra Arts Academy and publisher of the book opined that the letters serve as source material for history students. Later, the organisation felicitated Dr Konda Srinivasulu, one of the compilers of the book.
