Andhra Pradesh: In a major blow to the government of Andhra Pradesh government, the High Court on Friday has delivered as sensational verdict on former State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar's case. The court has found fault over his removal and directed the government to continue him as the election commissioner. It is known that the government has removed him from post following his unilateral decision of postponing the local body elections. However, the High Court dismissed the jeopardy brought on by the government over removal him.

The judges have held that Article 213 does not currently authorize the ordinance. Earlier in the affidavit, the government made it clear that it had appointed a new Election Commissioner as part of the reforms in the state election commission. The government has decided to appoint retired judges as SEC in this regard and drafted the ordinance to this extent.

However, the High Court has made it clear that the governor's ordinance will not work now. After the High Court's verdict, lawyer Jandhyala Ravi Shankar told the media that from this moment on, Ramesh Kumar will continue as the election commissioner as the ordinance has been cancelled.
