Rajamahendravaram: YSRCP Parliamentary Party chief whip and MP Margani Bharat Ram has assured to put his efforts to bring international recognition to the Grand City of Culture besides making it a green city. Action plan was devised to develop the city on all fronts.

Speaking to reporters at his office on Wednesday night, he said steps will be taken to construct an international cricket stadium in the city to make the city a sports hub. TDP government has diverted an amount of Rs 13 crore for Pasupu Kukuma programme from the funds sanctioned to international stadium, he alleged.

He said that proposals worth Rs 760 crore were submitted to the Minister for laying underground drainage system in the city and assured to develop the constituency as hub for industries.

A request also made to Union Minister for Civil Aviation to operate flights from Rajamahendravaram to Mumbai, Shirdi, New Delhi and Tirupati along with a request to upgrade the airport to international level as international cricket stadium is coming up in the city, for which the Union Minister responded positively.

Moreover, a memorandum was also submitted to Union Minister for National Highways to sanction a single flyover instead of three flyovers between Lalachervu and Bommuru on national highway 16, which passes through the city, he averred.

All the MPs spoke about the development of the state as well as budget allocations in Parliament sessions along with the implementation of assurances given in Andhra Pradesh State Bifurcation Act and according Special Category Status.

Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and appealed him to accord SCS to the state, he added. YSRCP leaders RSP Rao, SSR Manyam, G Babu, A Virraju and others were present.
