Kakinada: BC Welfare Minister Venugopala Krishna on Monday said that Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has set an example for all States by effectively implementing welfare schemes even in times of crisis.
He said that in the past there was a situation of whether the investment would be subsidised if there was damage to the crops and now the situation has changed. He said input subsidy has already been provided to farmers whose crops were damaged due to heavy rains and floods in July, August and September 2020. He said it was a testament to the Chief Minister's sincerity on farmer welfare.
Collector Muralidhar Reddy said that under the massive housing distribution programme undertaken by the State government, land acquisition is being done for the beneficiaries in the district with a budget of Rs 1,900 crore. He said the floods, which occurred from July to October, had caused extensive damage to crops and public facilities, adding that timely relief measures had been taken to provide timely relief to the farmers.
Minister Krishna Das said that if there are any minor issues, they should be resolved and efforts should be made for the development of the district. He said that it was his good fortune to serve as the Minister in charge of the district and that he would fulfill the responsibilities placed on him in a three-pronged manner and address public needs and problems in order of priority.
Minister for Social Welfare Pinipey Viswaroop said that Collector Muralidhar Reddy was conducting regular review meetings in the Assembly constituencies on development programmes and implementation of welfare schemes in the district.
Agriculture, Cooperatives, Marketing and Food Processing Minister Kurasara Kannababu said that Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy was implementing a number of programs for the welfare of farmers, giving them investment subsidy in the same season for crop loss in any season and instilling confidence in the farmers. He said that the procurement of grain would be done at the Farmer Assurance Centers and arrangements would be made to provide support price to all the farmers. He said all measures have been taken to provide support price to farmers for banana, tomato and kamala crops as well.
