District Collector opens onion counter in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: District Collector Mohammad Imdiaz opened the special onion counter at Rythu Bazaar at Swarajya Maidan here on Thursday. Before opening the counter, the Collector visited the shops in Rythu Bazaar and enquired whether the vendors stopped using single use plastic carry bags or not.

When the District Collector asked the flower vendors at Rythu Bazaar how they were packing flowers, the vendors replied that after the instruction of the Collector on ban of carry bags they have stopped using carry bags and were using cloth and paper bags.

The Collector told the vendors not to sell vegetables or flowers to customers if they bring plastic carry bags. The Collector expressed his satisfaction of over the non-usage of plastic carry bags in Rythu Bazaar.
