Eluru: As part of the call given by the United Nations to launch campaign for gender equality, the Dalit Sthree Sakthi (DSS) launched the campaign in protesting the atrocities against women belonging to Dalit and Adivasi communities here on Thursday.

The campaign for gender equality was coincided with the Constitution Day, which is being celebrated throughout the country, said national convener of DSS Geddam Jhansi.

Addressing the gathering, Jhansi said that the Dalit and Adivasi women have been facing adverse conditions both at home and outside. "It is high time everyone should strive to bring change in the mindset of people to change their behaviour towards women at large," she said.

Jhansi said that it was everyone's responsibility to shape the youth to lead an exemplary life. "Let everyone take forward the ideology of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar for a better society," she said.
