Fake cop held, 60,000 recovered
Chinna Bazar police nabbed a person who threaten people pretending himself as a police person and collects money and valuables from them. They have seized cash of Rs.60,000 from him.
Nellore: Chinna Bazar police nabbed a person who threaten people pretending himself as a police person and collects money and valuables from them. They have seized cash of Rs.60,000 from him.
The accused was identified as Shaik Mohammad Shafi from Saluchintala area in Kovur. Addressing the media at Chinnabazar Police Station, CI Srinivasan said that Shafi is having contact with a woman from the same area and had addicted to bad habits. Shafi used to threaten innocent daily labourers and local vendors in the city in the guise of a police person, and collect gold ornaments and cash from them.
CI explained that a case has been registered against the accused at Nawabpeta Police Station during 2017. On July 11, the accused threatened a construction labourer in the area and forcibly collected Rs.13,200 from him. The victim lodged a complaint with the Chinnabazar Police.
CI said that a suspect sheet has been opened against the accused at Nawabpeta police station. Further, the accused was also sentenced to jail in a case registered in Porumamilla of Kadapa district earlier, he added. SI Balaramaiah was also present.
