Gaiety marks Chennakesava Swamy Kalyanam in Markapur
As part of the Brahmotsavams, the celestial wedding of Sridevi Bhudevi sametha Sri Lakshmi Chennakesava Swamy was held at Markapur in the early morning of Friday, amid the chants of thousands of devotees.

The wedding of gods started at around 05.00 am on Friday on the stage decorated by flowers specially brought from Bengaluru. The temple priests Nandhyala Tirumalacharyulu, Sripati Appanacharyulu brought the statues of the deities to the stage and decorated the gods in colorful flowers and gold, silver and diamond jewellery.
TTD commentator Hayagreevacharyulu explained the devotees about various stages of the ongoing celestial wedding and traditions involved in them. The hierarchal trustees Amanchi Krishna Mohan from Vemulakota, P Subrahmanyam from Markapur presented the silk robes, mangala sutra, talambralu, and other wedding related articles to the priests along with their family members.
The priests performed the celestial wedding as devotees chant Jai Jai Chennakesava… Jai Jai Chennakesava… repeatedly with fervour.
Markapur MLA Janke Venkatareddy, former MLA Kandula Narayana Reddy, Giddalur former MLA Anna Rambabu, judge Ramakrishna Rao and other prominent people participated in the festival along with their family members.
Temple trust board chairman Yakkali Kasiviswanatham, EO B Ramesh and other temple staff coordinated with the police and NCC cadets in keeping the peaceful atmosphere since Thursday.
