Guntur: District collector I Samuel Anand Kumar said that to save every new-born baby and to give nutritious food, Women and Child Development Department is conducting 'Uyyala' programme.

He inaugurated Uyyala programme held at GGH here on Friday. Speaking on this occasion, he said that some parents are leaving their new-born babies on the roads and at city outskirts due to various reasons.

He said, "Women and Child Welfare Department, community hospitals and area hospitals will set up cradles at RTC Bus Stands and railway stations". He said they will set up 14 cradles in the district soon. New-born babies left in the cradles will be shifted to Sisu Gruhas and they will be given for adoption. Joint collector P Prasanti, ICDS project officer Manoranjani, GGH superintendent Dr Prabhavati were among those participated.
