Kurnool: Hotels found to be serving stale food
- Civic body officials carry out raids on various hotels, find rotten meat and stale food
- Seize one hotel for serving two-day old biryani to customers after heating it
Kurnool: Public health department officials of Kurnool Municipal Corporation found many hotels in the city serving stale and rotten meat to the customers during surprise raids. The officials seized one Madinah hotel located at Ucon Plaza on Monday evening.
Municipal health officer Bhaskar Reddy said that following the directions of commissioner D K Balaji, surprise raids were conducted on several hotels. During the raids some of the hotels were found to be in a very unhygienic conditions. They are advised to keep the surroundings neat and clean and also warned of action if found lacking in cleanliness again.
He said when they inspected the Madinah hotel on Monday evening they found that the biryani was prepared two days earlier but was being served to the customers after heating. Similarly, the chicken is also stored in freezer and the meat was also found to be in rotten state. "Stale food is being served to the customers. We have seized the hotel," he said.
Bhaskar Reddy further stated that raids had been intensified on the hotels that were being operated against the food safety norms. If any of the hotel is found to be serving stale food items to the consumers would be seized, he said.
