Kurnool: On the last Monday of Karthika Masam, devotees in large number thronged Srisailam temple and participated in Laksha Deepotsavam and Dasa Disa Harathi.

Apart from Andhra Pradesh, devotees from the States of Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra also visited the temple on the auspicious occasion.

To handle the huge number of devotees, the temple authorities have made necessary arrangements. The Karthika Masotsavams started at the temple on November16, 2020.

Temple executive officer K S Rama Rao in a press release on Monday stated that Laksha Deepostavam and Pushkarini Harithi were organised at Pushkarani. In view of coronavirus, a very few number of devotees have been permitted to participate in the Laksha Deepothsavam and Pushkarani Harathi, the EO said.

The devotees lit the Karthika Deepams on entire Pushkarini premises. The Deeparadhana has significance during Karthika Masam. According to epics, apart from Deeparadhana, Deepa Darshanam is also very auspicious.

Pushkarini Harathi (Dasa Disa Haratulu) was also organised at Pushkarini on the occasion. Prior to Pushkarini Harathi, special prayers were offered to the Utsava Moorthis, Swami and Amma Varlu. Later, Dasavidha Harathis were given to Pushkarini.

On the occasion of last Karthika Monday, devotees thronged the temple in large numbers. The devotees in queues were served hot milk, biscuits and mini meals.

Apart from Srisailam temple, the devotees also thronged the temples at Mahanandi, Yaganti, Bugga Rameshwaram, Om Karam and other temples across the district and offered prayers. Almost all temples across the district have reverberated with 'Om Namasivaiah.'
