Eluru: Municipal workers staged a dharna at municipal corporation office here on Tuesday, demanding that the government issue GO to support the announcement made by Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy that the salary of municipal workers will be hiked to Rs 18,000.
The workers gathered at the municipal corporation office responding to the call given by AP Municipal Workers and Employees Union, affiliated to CITU. Engineering department workers, sanitation workers and school sweepers participated in large numbers in the protest. The agitators also demanded for release of salary for 13-day strike period to sanitation workers among other demands.
