Nellore: Anam Ramanarayana Reddy threatens to launch stir
Former minister and Venkatagiri MLA Anam Ramanarayana Reddy on Wednesday lambasted the district administration for neglecting the development of his constituency
Nellore: Former minister and Venkatagiri MLA Anam Ramanarayana Reddy on Wednesday lambasted the district administration for neglecting the development of his constituency. Ramanarayana Reddy threatened that he would launch agitation if the district administration continues to neglect his constituency in implementing development works.
Addressing a review meeting in Venkatagiri on Wednesday, he said, "I don't know why my constituency is being highly neglected by the officials. Is it my sin becoming the legislator of the constituency? I have proposed many works from the constituency for the benefit of poor. But not even one is getting clearance from the administration. The welfare schemes announced by the Chief Minister are only being implemented," said the MLA.
It may be recalled that the legislator lambasted the administration for not acting on forest clearances and irrigation works in the constituency in February this year. During last December also, he implicitly criticised the Minister Anil Kumar and Rural MLA Sridhar Reddy saying various mafias have developed in the district. Finally, the Chief Minister intervened in the issue and pacified the issue.
Now, Ramanarayana Reddy fired again on the district administration that they had failed to prepare reports on various programmes in the constituency. He alleged that irrigation officials were selling water secretly and no action has been taken against the responsible persons.
He said even though the Chief Minister directed them to verify the Somasila-Swarnamukhi (SS) Link Canal for its development and still, the officials are disregarding their role. But there are proposals for the additional canal to Kandaleru Reservoir with around Rs 900 crore. He sought white paper on allocations of Rs 2,000 crore made to Nellore and the status of SS canal.
"I have failed to bring even one rupee additionally for the constituency as an MLA other than the benefits being distributed directly to beneficiaries. All DPRs submitted regarding various projects are still dormant. Municipal Minister signed on a letter for Venkatagiri Municipality and I don't know where it is lying," said Ramanarayana Reddy.
