Ongole : The SFI workers on Tuesday staged demonstration at the Regional Inspection Officer in the Education department, at the Damacharla Sakkubayamma Government Degree College for Women in Ongole demanding to initiate admission process immediately.

Prakasam district SFI secretary Ch Vinod said that the government assured the students and parents that they would complete the admissions for the Intermediate, degree, and engineering courses by October, but didn't start the process even by December.

On the other hand, the corporate and private institutions are collecting thousands of rupees in the name of fees, bus charges, books, and uniform bills, etc., he alleged.

He said that the government has announced to distribute the Amma Vodi benefit to the mothers of intermediate students, but the admissions are not yet completed. The parents of the students are worrying over the inability of the government and the students are in confusion whether they are able to get an education year or not, he added.

Responding to the memorandum submitted by the SFI, the RIO Subbarao said that the online admissions for the intermediate are temporarily halted due to the court cases and will continue soon. He said that no college is making any allotment of seats and there is no clarity on the fees yet.

He said that the corporate and private schools and colleges cannot sell books or conduct any type of business activity and collect fees as per their will. He assured the SFI workers that the government will respond to their requests and take necessary action to make sure all students and their parents get relief about the admissions.

SFI district vice-president Praveen, town leaders Srikanth, Edukondalu and others also participated in the programme.
