Plea for detailed probe into industrial accident

Anakapalli: An unbiased and thorough investigation into the accident at Novo Four industry in Parawada along with quality treatment for the injured worker was sought by the workers union.

The accident occurred on Thursday at Novapur Pharma Company in the Parawada Pharma City area when a CSP leak from a reactor reportedly caused serious burn injuries to Yellapu Ramu (48), who was working as a helper during the shift.

After visiting the site on Friday, G. Satyanarayana, honorary president of the Pharmacy Staff and Workers Union, said the injured worker sustained serious injuries to his eyes and other parts of his body. He was initially treated at a local hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Visakhapatnam for treatment.

Satyanarayana urged the district administration to ensure the worker receives the best possible medical care and that the company bears all medical expenses. He also demanded that the management pay the worker his full salary until he completely recovers and provide adequate compensation.

Expressing concern over the incident, Satyanarayana alleged that the management failed to inform the district authorities about the accident and was keeping details confidential. He said such secrecy was unacceptable when a worker suffered serious injuries inside an industrial unit.

Honorary president said he would submit a formal complaint to the District Collector, seeking a comprehensive inquiry, accountability from the management and justice for the injured worker.
