Kadapa: City DSP U Suryanarayana asked the people to take necessary measures to prevent accidents. Preventing road accidents should be viewed as social responsibility, he said.

He addressed an awareness camp organised by the police department to mark World Day of Remembrance for Traffic Victims here on Sunday. He said that most of the road accidents were occurring due to negligence by drivers as they lack knowledge about traffic rules.

Parents are permitting their children to drive the vehicles though they were not having minimum knowledge over traffic rules. Rash driving, not wearing helmet, driving the vehicle in inebriated condition, talking on mobile phones while driving are responsible for road accidents, he said.

He urged the people to shift injured persons in road accidents to hospitals. Traffic CI G Sridhar Naidu, Chinna Chouk CI Ashok Reddy Urban CI S K Ali and others were present.
