Kakinada: East Godavari Collector D Muralidhar Reddy called upon the teaching community to improve the quality of education in government schools.

"We should be on par with private schools in this aspect and at the same time, the enrollment aspect also should be taken care of," the Collector said.

Addressing the representatives of teachers and head masters unions at the Collectorate on Wednesday, the Collector said that health and education were the top priority subjects in the district.

Every effort should be made by teaching community to improve the quality of education in the schools, he said. The Collector also said that we have the best teachers in government schools and they need to work to improve the image of government schools through sincere efforts in teaching methodology and thereby improve the quality standards and pass percentage.

The Collector called upon the teaching community to make them available in school timings without deviation, to utilise the digital and virtual classrooms properly to the needs of school children.

On the occasion, the Collector revealed that necessary training will also be provided to those who are in need to improve their teaching capabilities.

With regard to children enrolment in government schools, the Collector said it will depend on quality of education and the teachers should strive to maintain good standards with special focus on quality education.

DEO S Abraham said that last year, 26,000 children migrated to government schools in the district noticing the standard of teaching and improved pass percentages.
