Vijayawada: The reservoirs in the Rayalaseema region are still empty though the water is flowing into sea waste, PCC vice-president and senior Congress leader Dr N Tulasi Reddy lamented here on Tuesday.

He explained in detail the water reserves project-wise in Rayalaseema districts. The Srisailam reservoir is full of floodwater but there is no water in various reservoirs in Rayalaseema districts, he said.

As many as 11.86 tmcft water is available in Gandikota reservoir as against its full storage capacity of 26.84 tmcft. Only 0.923 tmcft water is available in Sarvarajasagar reservoir as against its full storage capacitiy of 3.06 tmcft. Similarly, 5.25 tmcft water is available in CBR reservoir though it has 10 tmcft water storage capacity.

Likewise, only 4.81 tmcft water is available in the 17.74 tmcft water storage capacity of the Brahmamgari Matham reservoir. He pointed out though lakhs of cusecs of water is going into sea every day, the state government neglected preservation of water.

He also lamented that the present government did not undertake any work at least nominally in the ongoing irrigation projects in the Rayalaseema districts.
