Nellore: Even as the opposition leaders are pointing fingers at the ruling party on the alleged irregularities in sand supply, the district administration has appointed special teams for monitoring the sand related issues. Four mobile squads consisting of technical staff from various departments have been engaged in the activity.

Special Collector of Telugu Ganga Project Sada Bhargavi is the nodal officer for the Task Force on Sand. She will visit the reaches, stock points, and conduct raids at the places prone to illegal transportation in the district.

The teams are having staff from the Police, Transport and Mines and Geology wings for keeping a vigil on the routes towards Badvel in Kadapa district and towards Tada in Nellore district. Deputy Collectors of Telugu Ganga are asked to head the two teams. Deputy Collector Naga Lakshmi has been assigned the responsibility of coordinating with the heads of the teams.

There are reaches in Nellore rural, Ananthasagaram, Atmakur, Podalakur, Buchireddypalem and Vidavaluru mandals in the district. The district administration had already arranged the stock points for distribution at Pottepalem, Jonnawada, Mudivarthi, Viruvuru, Padamati Kambhampadu and Battepadu. Sand from the reaches will be shifted to stockyards where it is distributed as per orders online.
