The Telugu Desam Party has backed the long march led by Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan over sand shortage in the state. At Sunday's Visakha rally, party leaders Achchennaadu, Ayyanna Patra and Ganta Srinivasarao will be attending the march. The party has ordered three former ministers of coastal Andhra to participate in the Long March. On the other hand, the Left Parties, which had solidarity with the LongMarch, were in no way direct.

State secretaries of the respective parties wrote a letter to Pawan Kalyan thanking Ramakrishtu Madhu for inviting the CPI and CPM to participate in a protest on the sand issue. They said they were expressing solidarity on the issue.

The leaders of the two left parties said in a statement that since JSP deserve the BJP support the left parties would not be part of the long march.
