Krishna district in-charge minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy said tenders would be called soon for the construction of one barrage at the top and two at the bottom of the Prakasam barrage. He chaired the 33rd Krishna District Irrigation Advisory Council meeting on Friday. MLAs Malladi Vishnu, Jogi Ramesh, Simhadri Ramesh, Mondithoka Jagan Mohan Rao, District Collector Imtiyaz, Joint Collector Madhavi Latha and Irrigation Department officials were present.
He said the construction of three barrages in the same district was a good development. CM YS Jagan said that special attention was being paid to the construction of barrages. He said the issue was also discussed at the Cabinet meeting today. He said that in the last year Rabi season, 16 TMC of water was given followed by 26 TMCs this year and was decided to give 1 TMC of water to the port canal.
"This year we decided to give more as water availability is high. We are giving water twice as much as last year. Authorities have been instructed to take action on a priority basis," he minister said. Minister Peddireddy said that if there are any problems, they should be brought to the notice of the Collector and steps will be taken to complete all the works expeditiously.
