Various students and people’s organisations have demanded brutal punishment to killers of Dr Priyanka Reddy in Hyderabad.
Tirupati: Various students and people's organisations have demanded brutal punishment to killers of Dr Priyanka Reddy in Hyderabad. They held a protest rally at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) on Saturday in which In-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof V Uma and Registrar Prof DM Mamatha also participated.
They said that by setting up fast track court, the trial of the accused be completed within three months and they should be punished openly in the presence of public. YSR Students Union Chittoor district president Chevireddy Mohith Reddy has said that accused in such cases were not getting punishment though there are various Acts in vogue and it has been resulting in increase in the number of fresh incidents.
While some incidents have been coming into light there are number of incidents going unnoticed. Punishments in such brutal incidents should be stringent and be implemented in public so that anyone should scare of even thinking of that heinous incidents, he said.
YSR Students Union state general secretary Dr Obul Reddy called for changes in Nirbhaya Act to provide more protection to women. DYFI district secretary Jayachandra, AIDWA district secretary Sai Lakshmi, Nava Samaj Federation president Nagesh also spoke on the occasion. DYFI, AIDWA leaders Suman, Narendra, Chinna Babu, Madan, Jayanthi and students in large numbers participated.
