Tirupati: The post-surgery sustenance allowance to the patients covered under the YSR Aarogyasri scheme will be of immense help to them as it will compensate their wage loss following surgery, said Tirupati MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy. He formally inaugurated the scheme at Ruia Hospital in Tirupati on Monday and said that the Chief Minister has fulfilled one more election promise by implementing the scheme.

Under this scheme, patient will get post-surgery sustenance allowance of Rs.225 per day up to a maximum of Rs.5000 per month and can get additional assistance as per the recommendations of expert doctors depending on the severity of the disease. This scheme will be applicable for 836 treatments under Aarogyasri which will be credited to the patient's bank account within 48 hours of discharge.

Ruia Hospital Superintendent Dr NV Ramanaiah, Maternity Hospital Superintendent Dr Bharathi, CSRMO Dr S Saraswathi Devi, RMO Dr U Srihari, Hospital Development Working Committee chairman B Chandrasekhar and others took part in the programme.
