Vijayasai Reddy outlines five-point plan for North Andhra

Former Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai Reddy has proposed a five-point plan for North Andhra, including a regional development authority, annual budget allocations and action to tackle water shortages.

He said the plan would also focus on improving living standards in 2,000 villages, curbing migration and promoting industry. Measures for the Agency areas would include implementing the Constitution’s Fifth Schedule, giving legal status to GO No. 3, curbing mining and cannabis cultivation, and setting up universities to develop tribal skills.

Reddy said river interlinking and the removal of encroachments would help address the region’s water crisis, including in Uddanam.

He criticised the YCP over its promise to make Visakhapatnam one of Andhra Pradesh’s three capitals, saying the party should apologise to the public. He also faulted the Alliance government over the Steel Plant’s privatisation and called for the Srikrishna Committee’s findings on North Andhra to be made public.

Reddy said North Andhra’s development, alongside that of Rayalaseema and other regions, required stronger leadership.
