Krishna district administration is sending 1,396 migrant workers home from Machilipatnam railway station

Vijayawada: The Krishna district administration is making arrangements to send 1,396 migrant workers to Jharkhand from Machilipatnam in Shramik special train. The train will leave the Machilipatnam railway station on Wednesday.

The district administration arranged food and shelter for these workers since the lockdown began in March. After the state government held talks with the Jharkhand state government, the arrangements are underway to run the special train from Machilipatnam.

Additional SP M Sattibabu on Tuesday held discussions with the revenue, police, panchyat raj, railway and other departments to shift the migrant workers to Machilipatnam in buses from where the train will leave for Jharkhand. Machilipatnam revenue divisional officer Khaja Vali, special branch DSP Dharmendra, Bandar DSP Mahaboob Basha, trainee DSP Sravani and other officials attended the meeting on Tuesday in Machilipatnam
