Visakhapatnam: Over 2.47 lakh beneficiaries have been identified in Visakhapatnam district for allocation of house-sites on Ugadi Day, said Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Botcha Satyanarayana.

Addressing media here on Monday, Satyanarayana said the land acquisition process was underway for the same. "Of the 2.47 lakh beneficiaries, 1.76 lakh belong to the city. As adequate land was not available in the corporation limits, over 6,000 acres of government and assigned land was identified in the surrounding 10 mandals in the district for acquisition," said the Minister.

Satyanarayana mentioned that the entire process was going on in a transparent way and there was no room for any irregularities. The YSRCP government was keen on providing house-sites to all the eligible, he added.

Taking a dig at the TDP for making baseless allegations against the government, he questioned the Opposition party why it remained silent on IT raids on the residences of the PA of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu. Similarly, a couple of vernacular dailies were tight-lipped on the raids for the reasons best known to them, he pointed out. He also said an official was suspended on corruption charges.

On the three capitals issue, the Minister said the decision was taken for equal development of all regions in the state. "Moreover, the decision was taken after a thorough study of reports submitted by various committees," he stated. The government was keen on developing Visakhapatnam on par with Hyderabad in five years, he added. Anakapalle MLA Gudivada Amarnath was also present.
