An advocate-actor utilises time at hand to write a couple of stories and scripts for which he would never have found time but for pandemic-induced lockdown

Visakhapatnam: An advocate by profession for the past two decades, an actor, a theatre artiste and a playwright, P T Madhav wears many hats.

Unlike many of his friends, lockdown never bored him as he decided to utilise time at hand judiciously, nurture his creative streaks.

The pandemic-induced lockdown made him write a couple of stories and scripts for which he never found time otherwise. The forced confinement in the wake of coronavirus made him invest time in creative pursuits that are close to his heart.

Though a busy advocate, he acted in close to 2,000 playlets for a period spanning over four decades.

"My most memorable moments include appreciation for my works from Mahakavi Sri Sri and poet and screenwriter Aathreya. Fortunately, I had a wonderful opportunity to present a playlet along with Rachakonda Viswanatha Sastry," recalls Madhav, who settled in Visakhapatnam.

Besides playlets, Madhav also essayed the role of a supporting artiste with ease in various Telugu films, including 'Dhruva,' 'Babu Bangaram,' 'London Babu,' 'Saira Narasimha Reddy', 'Bhale Bhale Magadivoy' and 'Akshara'. Next, he will be seen in 'Rajahamsa' which is yet to be released.

As a playwright, Madhav says that he aspires to highlight the injustice meted out to the voiceless along with their fight against social evils.

Madhav says he is glad to bring out three plots focusing on new themes. His first work titled 'Kannerra' brings out the impact of corrupted officials on society. "This story is soon going to be made into a short film.

Similarly, 'O Cheekati Ratri' lays emphasis on how women continue to experience harassment and atrocities in various places despite the existence of laws.

Another story 'O Prema Yatra' portrays the ordeal of the family members who lost a person due to suicide. All the three stories have been penned down during the lockdown period," he tells The Hans India.

Sharing his future projects, the advocate-actor says that his playlet script 'Laya Tappina Koyila' is being canned into a feature film. "The movie will be titled as 'Koyila'.

I will contribute to story and dialogue writing for this film," he narrates. Koyila centres on the efforts made to bring the Maoists into the mainstream and make their life more meaningful.

Further, the lockdown period aided the advocate to flip through a bundle of books pertaining to law and related topics. "In future, I am planning to write a story on the pandemic that has crippled the economy and brought several lives to a standstill,'' he adds.
