Vizianagaram: A huge number of beneficiaries received pensions at their doorstep on Sunday. They expressed their happiness over the government ensuring pension to them at their doorstep. The district stood fourth in effectively delivering pensions at doorsteps. Around 93 per cent of pensions were distributed by 7 pm. The Village Volunteers started knocking the doors in the early hours and started distribution of pension after taking biometric attendance.
Actually, the government started distribution of pensions at the doorsteps in February, but as some technical errors crept into the biometric devices, the task could not be accomplished totally. The volunteers visited every house and handed over the money. Senior citizens, patients, physically challenged are happy to receive the money. Some of them could not receive the amount in February due to technical errors. The government distributed pensions to 3,26,572 persons 7 pm.
