Eid and Salman Khan film have become synonymous to each other. Every year, Salman has a perfect Eidi for his fans, and 2019 was no different. This year Salman's much-anticipated film Bharat hit the screens on June 5. Ali Abbas Zafar has given Salman Khan his biggest opener till date.

Each year, Salman Khan fans wait with bated breath for their favourite actor's film. And this year, he has returned to the big screen with a film that has drama, action, emotion and comedy. Bharat has struck the right chord with fans, and Bhai fans thronged the theatres in large numbers on Eid.

Salman Khan's Bharat has earned Rs 42.3 crore on its opening day, thus smashing the opening day box office records of Salman Khan's previous films. Released in 4700 screens across India, Bharat has managed to get a bumper opening.

Despite tough competition from the much-hyped India vs South Africa World Cup match, Bharat emerged stronger at the box office. Salman has once again proved that he is a crowd puller, and Bharat's first day collection is proof of it.

Bharat has surpassed the Day 1 business of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (rs 40.35 crore), which was Salman's biggest opener till yesterday.

Salman Khan has always struck gold on Eid. If his 2016 film Sultan opened at Rs 36.54 crore, his 2017 film Tubelight made Rs 21.15 crore on its opening day. And Salman last Eid release Race 3, which released in 4300 screens across the country, made Rs 29.17 crore.

While Salman's Race 3 did good business in the opening weekend, the film failed to live up to the expectations of fans and critics. But after that debacle, Salman Khan has redeemed himself with Bharat. The three-hour film has got a thumbs up from critics as well.

India Today critic Ananya Bhattacharya said that Salman has delivered a perfect Eid blockbuster. Giving the film 3 out of 5 stars, she wrote, "Through the eyes of Bharat, we see the journey of Bharat, our country, through some of its best and worst phases. Director Ali Abbas Zafar manages to capture in 2 hours and 47 minutes the ups and downs that this man and his country wade across. The best part of Bharat the film is that it has something for everyone. It is the quintessential Big Salman Khan Film with all its trappings. Romance, comedy (and a lot of it, thanks to Sunil Grover), drama, action, emotion."

Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Bharat depicts the journey of a nation through a common man.

Bharat, which also stars Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Jackie Shroff and Tabu, hit the screens on June 5.
