Sri Lankan Minister at the launch of ‘King Buddha’ title song

The title song “King Buddha – We Want World Peace” from the upcoming film King Buddha was officially launched at a grand event held at ITC Kakatiya. The launch was performed by Sri Lanka’s Minister of Buddhism Religious Affairs, Sunil Senevi, who praised the film’s message of global harmony and peace.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Sunil Senevi commended director Satya Reddy for taking up a meaningful initiative through the film. He stressed the importance of promoting peace in a world currently witnessing conflicts such as the tensions between Iran and Israel, as well as the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. According to him, the film’s message advocating global peace is both timely and essential.

The minister also expressed happiness that the project was initiated in the United States and is being filmed across several Buddhist nations including Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Indonesia. He assured full support from Sri Lanka for upcoming shooting schedules.

Recalling the devastation caused by the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, he emphasized that the world must avoid another global conflict and embrace the teachings of Gautama Buddha for harmony.

Director Satya Reddy said the film fulfills his long-cherished dream of bringing the story of Buddha to a global audience after a 30-year career in cinema. He revealed that King Buddha is being made using advanced technology and is planned for a worldwide release in more than 100 languages in 2027. Currently, key sequences depicting Buddha’s early life are being filmed in Nepal, including locations such as Lumbini and Kathmandu.
