A third year B. Tech student of GITAM Deemed to be university and NCC girls wing cadet Swathi Samntha Ray has been selected for the NCC-YEP (Youth Exchange Programme) to tour Russia for 14 days during the period of August-September 2019.

Visakhapatnam: A third year B. Tech student of GITAM Deemed to be university and NCC girls wing cadet Swathi Samntha Ray has been selected for the NCC-YEP (Youth Exchange Programme) to tour Russia for 14 days during the period of August-September 2019. She will visit Russia, not just as an NCC Cadet, but as a cultural representative from India. She is the only NCC girl's wing cadet selected from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states under NCC-YEP.

One of the pre-requisites for a Cadet to be considered for the NCC-YEP (Youth Exchange Programme) is that she should have been a part of the elite camps of NCC, namely - RDC (Republic Day Camp) held in January 2019,New Delhi. While in the camp she applied for YEP and there after she underwent the selection process following after which a merit list was prepared, she was selected YEP to represent India.

India has a youth exchange tie-up with 10 friendly nations, including Bangla Desh, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, Singapore, Vietnam, Turkmenistan and Russia. The selected NCC cadets will participate in NCC activities of the host country to create an increased awareness and appreciation of each other's socio-economic and cultural realities.

Appreciating the student, GITAM Deemed to be university Vice-Chancellor Prof.K.Sivaramakrishna, GITAM Associate NCC Officer Capt .Dr .V.Parimala Venu and Student's Affairs Director Prof.K. Veerabhadram appreciated the NCC Cadet for her selection.
