Bengaluru: Hit hard by lack of business for a long time because of Covid-19 impact, the Bruhat Bangalore Hotels Association has requested the government to do away with work from home gradually and ensure that IT companies take proper safety measures against coronavirus spread to instill confidence among their employees to work from office.

"Bangalore city has more than 12,000 IT companies including more than 45 big firms. As all the companies are still allowing work from home, people who are dependent on hotel business are severely affected. Right from hotel, house-keeping, maintenance, food courts, travels, catering are all affected as they are dependent on the IT companies," said the president of the association, P.C Rao.

The employees with the IT companies have been working from home since March 2020. This has rendered not only the paying guest accommodations crying for funds but also the transport sector.

The Ola & Uber Owners and Drivers Association president Tanvir Pasha said that more than 50% of cabs including those on Ola and Uber platforms are off roads due to lack of customers.
