Siddaramaiah lunch meet at Rajanna’s home fuels speculation

Tumakuru: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah’s presence at a meal in former minister K N Rajanna’s Kyathasandra house in Tumakuru has set off whispers across the political field, and sources say a discussion lasting more than half an hour touched the Ahinda organisation, Rajanna’s claim to a ministership and the Apex Bank president’s post.

Siddaramaiah visited Tumakuru on Friday, for various programmes and joined the banquet at Rajanna’s residence. The gathering was described as a courtesy call, yet it did not stop there and became a platform for several political conversations.

Sources said Siddaramaiah held a close discussion with Rajanna and other important leaders present on current events in the state and on future political tactics. After the meal, the talk ran beyond thirty minutes and sharpened curiosity in political circles.

Among the chief points raised was reportedly the Apex Bank president’s chair that Rajanna recently lost, and there was also mention of the support Siddaramaiah had earlier given him on that matter.

Other leaders at the table appealed to Siddaramaiah to grant Rajanna a cabinet berth; Pavagada legislator H V Venkatesh and several leaders took part. The revival of the Ahinda organisation figured as the principal theme.

Siddaramaiah, while chief minister, had brought several schemes for Ahinda groups, and the meeting now proposed bringing the organisation back to life. Sources suggest he announced no direct decision, yet indicated that when the time arrives, a view on Ahinda will be taken after looking at public opinion.
